The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine is the beneficiary of the Alabama Parkinson Fighter’s Walk and 5K.  One-hundred percent of the net proceeds from this event will go directly to the Neurology Department for Parkinson’s disease research.  Historically, 91 cents of every dollar received from this event has gone to UAB for research.  They in turn use 100% of that donation to more rapidly advance their efforts toward finding treatments and a cure. The monetary support allows them to accelerate their research and establish their research validity and viability, which can then be leveraged to garner additional critical funding from numerous private donors, nonprofit grants, and federal grants.  Our goal is to help UAB find Parkinson’s treatments - or a cure - faster.  We appreciate any and all support in reaching that goal.
