Join us for the inaugural Sidney's Kidney Dash 5K in conjunction with this year's 5th Annual Walk with Sidney 2k Fun Walk, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 9am at Millenium Park in Danville, KY.
This is a fun packed event with exhibits, special guests, live entertainment, door prizes, refreshments and more from 8:00-11am at the main shelter at Millennium Park, 1000 Cunningham Parkway, Danville, KY.
The 5K will be at 9AM with late registration and check in open at 8. The race will be run on the park's paved path that meanders through the park. Soon after the runners take off, the "Walk with Sidney" participants will begin their trek through the park on an abbreviated route.
This event is hosted by KIDNEY HEALTH ALLIANCE OF KENTUCKY (KHAKY) to raise awareness of kidney disease! It is projected that 59% of Americans will have kidney disease! Many are at risk for the disease which is prevalent among those who have high blood pressure and diabetes. But other risk factors include frequent use of over-the-counter pain medications, obesity, high cholesterol, and individuals who are African, Asian, Hispanic or Native American. The disease is a silent killer that can progress to a loss of up to 90% of kidney function before symptoms are noticed.
Join us in our first 5k or walk with us for a bit! Each participant will receive an official shirt (dri-fit sport tek shirt for our 5k participants and a cotton t-shirt for our 2k walkers) and be eligible for door prizes.
Cash prizes will be awarded for overall 5k winners, through 3 places: First place - $75 plus a free registration in our next KHAKY 5k event; Second place - $50 plus a free registration in our next KHAKY 5k event; and Third place - $25 plus a free registration in our next KHAKY 5k event! Winners by age group will also receive awards.
Kidney Health Alliance of Kentucky is a local, independent, non-profit organization. Your support of our event is a perfect way to "give where you live." All funds raised support the programs and services that KHAKY provides right here in Kentucky!
