2023 Irish Jig Cancelled Due to Weather

After consulting with local meteorologists and event partners, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Irish Jig race.

Description

Corewell Health is proud to provide the Corewell Health Irish Jig 5K to the West Michigan community on Saturday, March 18. Now in its 39th year, the Irish Jig has grown to become one of Michigan’s premier 5K (3.1 mile) road races. The USA Track & Field certified course is mostly flat with a few gentle hills through the downtown area of East Grand Rapids. Corewell Health is proud to host this event to promote colorectal cancer awareness.

Top age group winners and qualifying teams receive prizes, and top overall finishers receive cash awards. Teams must have a minimum of five and a maximum of ten members to qualify for team awards. The 2023 Irish Jig will feature one “staggered” start, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Walkers will start after all runners have crossed the starting line at approximately 8:45 a.m.

Participants who registered by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 3 will receive the shirt size they ordered. Participants who register after 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 3 may choose from available remaining shirt sizes on a first come first served basis at event check-in.

Corewell Health continues to closely monitor COVID-19 and adhere to local, state, and federal health and safety standards. Corewell Health will work to mitigate risks related to COVID-19, which may include changing, postponing, or canceling portions or the entirety of the event. Participants are expected to adhere to all rules and guidance.

We look forward to seeing you on race day.

Colorectal Cancer Awareness

Corewell Health is proud to provide this event as part of its mission to improve the health, inspire hope and save lives.

Among cancers that affect men and women, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, yet it is preventable. Thanks to increased awareness of the risks and symptoms, advances in screening tests, and evolving treatment options, the number of people diagnosed with colorectal cancer continues to decline causing an increase in survival rates. Funds raised from the Corewell Health Irish Jig go to prevention efforts and can help catch colorectal issues before they become cancer.
