Description

Weekly Training Runs spanning 8 weeks of the summer. Mondays 6:30-8:00 p.m. Beginning June 15, 2015 and Ending August 3, 2015. Weekly runs will be divided into three or four training groups/levels.  Each group will be lead by some of Clinton County's experienced, leading, & award winning cross country coaches as well as some of Clinton County’s current college runners.  Running related education workshops & refreshments MAY follow each run (participation optional). Who: Children and adults ages around 6-106* who would like to walk, jog, run, or play around the Uncle John's Cider Mill Landscape.  *Younger children are welcome if accompanied/supervised by an adult. Registration: Register for all 8 weeks or register and pay week by week. Runners can register on the first day they participate by signing a release form (below), paying the fee and choosing a training group for that night. The entire summer program’s fee might be $20 for adults, $15 Students, $45 for a family (this is may change, but only minimally), or $3 each week.  *Training Group Options*:*These training groups are flexible can change as needed and as individuals desire & also are decided as to who and how many people participate each week. 1.- Advanced& Intermediate- 4 miles at 7:00 pace or faster TO 3 miles at 8:45 pace or faster. 2.- Intermediate & Novice- 3 miles at around 10:00 pace or faster TO 2 miles at pace to cover the full distance by comfortably running and/or walking.  3.-Beginner & Rehab- May be 9:00-11:00 min pace with some walking in between. 4.-Youth- Running-oriented games, led by a coach or/and high school runners; youth participating must be old enough to follow directions independently; suggested ages are 6 to 12 years old Mission/Purpose: To create a program where area runners and walkers (especially high school cross country teams and their families) could run or walk on the Uncle John’s Cider Mill property with other participants of similar ability one day a week during the summer for a minimal fee. The concept is to give a group training feel that is flexible, at a training venue that is interesting and scenic.  An advisory group made up of cross country coaches who choose to participate have developed the specifics of the program in conjunction with the Uncle John’s management. They will be on site on the event days to run the program (not all members will be present every week).  This inaugural year’s program is meant to be a non-profit group but if there happens to be profits from the program (after Uncle John’s expenses are paid), the profit will be divided among the participating coaches’ cross country team(s) as fundraising for each program.
