Haywood Community College celebrates its 50th anniversary with a 5K named after the college’s founder. The race will be held on the HCC campus and take runners through campus and a portion of bordering roads. Following the race and awards ceremony will be a day-long anniversary celebration.
5K
This race is open to runners and walkers. The race will start on Freedlander Drive and take runners on an out-and-back section on a flat section Jones Cove Road. Once participants are back on campus, they will start the hilly portion of the course around campus, with the finishing stretch around the Mill Pond.
Fun Run
This .44 mile-walk/run will take place entirely on the HCC campus and is designed for kids and older adults. All children completing the Fun Run will receive a finisher’s medallion at the finish line, designed and made by HCC’s High Technology Advanced Machining Program.
Packet Pickup/Late Registration
Friday, September 18 – 5:30-7:30 PM – Student Center lobby (185 Freedlander Drive, Clyde, NC)
Saturday, September 19 – 6:00-7:30 AM – Student Center lobby (185 Freedlander Drive, Clyde, NC)
Stuff
Each 5K runner will receive a cotton/poly short sleeve shirt commemorating the inaugural race and the 50th anniversary of Haywood Community College.
