The Brookhaven Family 5K Run aims to raise funds for researching a treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood. The event is held in honor of 11-year-old, Jake Pritchard, who is battling Duchenne. The 7th annual Brookhaven Family Run festivities will kick off Friday, October 23rd with an outdoor family movie night/race packet pickup followed by the 5K run and kids races on Saturday, October 24th. We will have plenty of things in store for runners and non-runners alike, including a silent auction/raffle, food, and an awesome Kid Zone featuring music, crafts, face painting and more. All funds raised from the Brookhaven Family Run will benefit Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (tax ID: 31-1405490), and go towards furthering research for an effective treatment for Duchenne.
