On a crisp morning this coming December 5, 2015, Holy Cross Episcopal Church will host its annual Race To The Head Of The Class runners road race. There will be a 10K and 5K run plus a 1k fun run/walk.
The course is moderately challenging (this is the mountains!) with varying scenery and some nice twists and turns. Once you finish you are rewarded with one of the best hot breakfasts you’ll ever have after a race. Holy Cross supplies many of the breakfast casseroles to the Tryon Half Marathon and if you’ve ever run the Tryon Half you’ll know what’s in store. We like to call it “Same great breakfast for half the distance!”
Funds raised from the race all go to the Holy Cross Scholarship fund, which benefits all students in the community – not just those who attend Holy Cross Church. The scholarship fund was created by an endowment back in the 1960s to for students in the communities surrounding Tryon HCC-196and Landrum. This year Holy Cross awarded $28,000 in scholarships. That is a typical average for most years.
There is very little in life more important than a child’s continuing education. Holy Cross Episcopal Church has been helping them achieve that goal for close to 50 years. With your generous support we can make a difference in even more lives of the youth of our community. Please join us as we Race To The Head Of The Class!
