The local council of Girls on the Run is organizing a 5K road race and community celebration. The race will take place on Saturday, May 30 at 10am. The course tours the beautiful OSU campus and finishes on the field at Reser Stadium. This event is not just for girls; its for everyone! Runners and walkers of all skill levels are invited to join the event – this is a great way to get the family out and enjoy the positive energy of hundreds of people reaching for their goal. The registration fees for youth/student/adult are $15/$25/$30 until May 28. Race Day registration is an additional $10. All proceeds benefit the Girls on the Run Willamette Valley . Girls on the Run is a non-profit, international program dedicated to educating and preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. It is an innovative health education and wellness program that combines training for a 3.1-mile run/walk event with life changing, self-esteem enhancing lessons that encourage healthy habits and an active lifestyle in 8-12 year old girls. Girls on the Run encourages positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual, and physical development. To prepare for this, the girls learn healthy running and eating habits as well as participating in aerobic workouts to prepare their bodies for the challenge.
