If you have never run or cycled in the Chehalem Mountain area in rural Washington and Yamhill Counties, you are in for a real treat.
Miles of country roads (including 6 miles unpaved) wind through a breathtaking forested setting and past peaceful, scenic farmlands.
As you head south from the start on McCormick Hill Road, take a deep breath ...or a few... in preparation for over 800 feet of elevation gain in the first two miles.
After that enjoy the gorgeous scenery, rolling hills and many smaller (yet still challenging) climbs that give way to sweeping views of the Willamette Valley.
Then, get psyched for the last big climb of the day… over 300 feet in the last half mile leading you to the delicious pancakes and bacon waiting for you at the finish line.
If you want a break from more traditional road racing and are not afraid of the challenge this course offers then this race is for you. Remember, the feeling of conquering the hills is unbeatable!
