What's the big ballyhoo about running in Salem? Come one, come all to the Big Ballyhoo! The festivities kick off with a classic 5k foot race, and continue through the day with 3 stages of bands, buskers, magicians, fire spinning and tasty tonics. Come for the run, and explore the festivities all day.
What's the Big Ballyhoo Salem 5k? It's a 3.1 mile run/walk starting at the beautiful State Capitol State Park, going across closed streets and through Willamette University.
The roads do not close often for races in Salem, but they will be for a short time for this exciting celebration of summer. After the race, The Big Ballyhoo Festival, an event of eclectic excitement will commence with food carts, beverages, and various activities for the whole family.
There will also be an alternative transportation rally near the Salem Bus Mall. After the race, the stage for the magicians will be bicycle-powered. Want to take a turn? More information is available at www.bigballyhoo.com.
