WVS Winter's End 4.5 Mile Run

Registration closes 2/17/23 at noon! All are welcome to run!

Registration

Pre-entry fee: WVS members $20, non-members $25
- WVS members were emailed the discount code on 1/22/23.
  (Our race discount codes are for current members of the WVS and should not be shared.)
- Non-members can purchase for $12 a membership in the store and we will send you within 36 hours the race discount code to use during registration.
Runners must pre-register online. Race day entries will not be accepted.
Pre-registration will be capped at the first 225 entries. (subject to change)
Online registration will close Friday, March 17, 2023 at noon or earlier if race cap is reached.
Entry fee is not refundable or transferable.

Race Day

Pre-entry packet pick-up will begin at 9:30 am at Penn State Wilkes-Barre in the Commons on campus.
All entrants will receive a commemorative pint glass.

Start

Race start is at 11:00 am.
Race will be chip timed.

Course

Our race features a scenic rolling hills 4.5 mile course in the Lehman area near Penn State, Wilkes-Barre.

Note

If the race is cancelled due to any directives by the PA Governor, the hosted facility, or the WVS, 2023 pre-entries will be deferred to next year. No refunds will be given.

This race is open to anyone. You do not need to be a WVS member to run. You can however become a member or renew your membership during the checkout process. Online memberships are $12 per year. Membership cards are sent within a week of receipt or given race day if received 14 days prior to event or not yet expired.
Non-members can purchase for $12 a membership in the store and we will send you within 36 hours the race discount code to use during registration.
The race directors reserve the right to accept or reject any entry.

Vince Wojnar Triple Crown

Consists of in-person 2023 races for our Winter’s End 4.5 Mile Run (March 19), Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run (May 7), and the 20K Run (November 12).

Cash and participation prizes to be awarded! Every runner who runs and finishes in all three races qualifies for a commemorative microfleece vest. See series website for more info.

Place

Race starts and finishes at the Penn State University Wilkes-Barre Campus in Dallas, PA.

Safety

Runners are not allowed to be accompanied by animals.

Baby strollers of any type are not permitted.

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on campus.

Trophies to the top male and female. Medals to top 3 males and top 3 females in each age group.

SPECTATOR INFORMATION

Roads are narrow. No spectator vehicles are allowed on the course during the race. Spectators may view the race from the start/finish area, the parking lot areas, and also from the turnaround point near the intersection next to Lake Lehman High School.

How to get there

Directions to the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus at Lehman: from the Wilkes-Barre area, take the North Cross-Valley Expressway (Route 309) and proceed north towards Dallas. At the end of the divided highway, turn left at the first traffic light (Hillside Road) and follow the signs to the campus (approx. 5 1/2 miles); from Berwick, follow Route 11 to West Nanticoke and take Route 29 to Route 118. Turn right on Route 118 and follow it until you see the sign for the Penn State University Campus.
