Hello. We are the Sixth Power, a DI team from St. Monica Catholic School. Our team is putting together a race to increase awareness and funds for the issue of self harm. Self harm is a mental health isuue among young adults who are struggling with life and need a way out. Running is an escape from cutting that still provides the way out. We plan to donate all profits from this race to local organizations who help troubled youth.
Although most of you think you are only coming to run a race, you are in fact doing much more. The impact that you can have on another person's life just by showing up to the race is the true reason that you should come. For some kids, cutting is a way to escape from the stress and anxiety that comes with school life. They promise themselves that it won't go too far, but when they least expect it, they end up cutting the cord of life. If you come to this race, you can save a life. Talking about something is different than actually doing it. We want to make that difference. Thank you. We hope to see you there.
