Three years ago, Bart Cragun was diagnosed with Anaplastic Ependymoma, a cancer that causes tumors to form in his central nervous system. In March 2012, he went under major surgery to remove a larger tumor growing within the spinal cord in his mid-back. Afterwards he underwent radiation therapy to his brain and spine due to malignant cells in his spinal fluid. After 2 ½ years of being “cancer free,” Bart went in for a routine check-up where his scans showed a tumor in his L-Spine within the spinal cord. It has now been seven months of both radiation and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, Bart is not responding to the treatment and the placement of the tumors makes them inoperable.
Bart and his wife Marcie have found a treatment center in Pocatello, Idaho that has seen some great results using natural treatment. Both Bart and Marcie feel very strongly that this is an answer to their prayers even though it is putting a large financial strain on their family. Bart commutes to Pocatello from his home in Ogden multiple times a week.
By participating in this 5K, subsequent pancake breakfast, and silent auction, you will help relieve the Craguns' financial burden and extend Bart's life and the time he can spend with his two young children Caleb, age 3, and Isaac, 18 months. So come run, eat, bid, and have a great time!
