TO DONUT OR NOT TO DONUT- 5K FUNDRAISER
Crisp fall air, leaves changing color. Its time for all things Autumn! This donut run is more than just your standard eat donuts and see how fast you can go without having any mishaps, this 5k is also about helping out an athlete in need!
Enter Chris Hammer:
Chris is a Paralympic athlete, qualified for the 2016 Rio Paralympic games. He also happens to be; a new dad and a full time student at the University of Utah working on his masters degree in Sports Psychology. Between training, studying, going to class, and watching after his little girl while his wife works full time, Chris has a pretty full plate.
As most of us Triathletes know, the sport can be pretty expensive. With training costs, gear, travel, race entries and other things, the cost adds up fast! Being a full time university student and competing at a very high level, requires lots of time and money. Although Chris does a great job at managing the time he does have, he could use a hand! This is why have set up a Gofundme account for his sake. We are encouraging everyone doing the Donut to be as generous as they wish and to donate to Chris' cause. For this reason we have made the race very affordable. (free for members, 10 dollars for non members)
Your donations will help him fund his training by helping with cost of gear, travel, baby sitters to help free up time, and more. Your donation will not go unnoticed and will be so much appreciated!
What is a Doughnut Run?
To put it simply, its a 5k with a sweet twist. For every donut a runner eats, :30 seconds will be removed from their overall 5k time. So if a runner was to eat 4 donuts before race start, and then ran a 22:00 minute 5k, their adjusted donut time would be 20:00 minutes. Runners are allowed to eat no donuts, or as many as they are able!! Their will be Fall treats at the end of the race, and thaks to Utah Run we will have chip timing!
