Safety & Running Etiquette
Please take a minute to review the following running "etiquette" rules of thumb.
When lining up at the start of the event, please place yourself in the appropriate position given your average pace. If you run a 6 minute mile, you should be at the front. Conversely, if you run a 15 minute mile, you should be near the end. This is a safety issue! Runners weaving around others creates opportunity for injury.
Please remember that we are in public parks. The park is always open for the general public's use. Be mindful of those enjoying the park.
Please never run more than 2 abreast. The trail can be somewhat narrow at times. Should a runner / walker be approaching from the opposite direction, please make room and run single file while passing.
Please help us preserve the cleanliness and natural beauty of the park. Throw your trash in the trash bins. At a minimum, toss your cup within a few feet of the trash bin. This helps us in the post-event clean up effort.
When stopping at an aid station, please take your fluid and move just beyond the table to make room for the folks behind you.
Be mindful of those who choose not to stop at the aid station.
The course will be very clearly marked with 3' cones with directional signs and 1' cones marked with "Metro Run & Walk" at various stretches to provide confirmation that runners and walkers are on course.
Course monitors will also be stationed throughout the route. All course monitors will be wearing visi-yellow shirts with reflective stripes.
