5K run/walk fundraiser for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). POTS is a type of dysautonomia, which is a malfunction of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS controls heart rate, blood pressure, gastrointestinal motility, and other automatic functions of the body. People who are affected with POTS present many symptoms including dizziness, fainting, fast heart rate, low blood pressure, chest pain, extreme fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and many more. There is currently no known cure for POTS since the cause of POTS is unknown. There are different treatment plans and medications to try to help control the symptoms.
